My name is Ladi Bint Idrees…

I am a forty-plus mother of three whose own journey through marriage, divorce and solo parenting has deepened my compassion for families walking challenging paths. For nearly two decades, I have served as a teen mentor and educator, guiding young people with wisdom, discipline, and care.

I am passionate about my faith and worship of God, and believe that strong families are the foundation of a healthy humanity. I am also a self-published author whose writing reflects my dedication to nurturing children and shaping homes rooted in love, discipline, and purpose.

I hope my legacy will be a lasting shift in how the world views the family — not just as a private unit, but as the heartbeat of our shared future.

My Story and Why I Wrote This Book

I never intended to become a single mother. I doubt anyone does. But when it happened, I quickly realised I had two choices:

• See myself as a victim of my circumstances.

• Step forward, with God’s help, and build a new life for my family.

I chose the second path, not because I wasn’t afraid, but because my children needed me. Along the way, I discovered that single motherhood can bring growth, healing, and even joy when approached with the right mindset, tools, and support.

I wrote The Solo Parent’s Playbook because I wish I had a guide like this when I started. I wanted something that resonated with me not just as a parent, but as a woman of faith facing uncertainty, hoping to raise thriving children, build a support circle, and perhaps, one day, find love again.

I remember one night, sitting alone in the dim light of an empty bungalow, after the children had gone to bed, staring at the boxes, suitcases and paper bags containing 16 years of our lives and wondering if I had made a mistake. Should I have just stayed? The loneliness I felt at that moment is one that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. And yet... I knew there was no turning back. It was in those moments when I felt most alone yet most determined to find my way forward.
